「日光の社寺」世界遺産登録１５周年記念、日光ユネスコ協会設立１５周年記念として「講演と文化の集い」が日光総合会館で開催。今回は日光混声合唱団の一員としての出番もあった。幼稚園児童の太鼓のパフォーマンスは逸品。２３名が揃ってチームワークよくパフォーマンスをこなすというのが驚きである。指導の様子を是非見学したいものです。イベントは１時間近く予定がオーバー。クリスマスイブは仲間と外食してラーメンで終りました...。
Nikko UNESCO association organized a big event to commemorate the 15th anniversary of registration of Nikko world heritage site as well as the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Nikko UNESCO association at Nikko major community hall today. Our choir group also performed in this event. The most attractive one was the one by 5 years old kids' drum performance. Their perfect way of playing different kinds of drums was just amazing. We want to see how the coaches have been training them in such an effective way. The event took much longer time than scheduled. I finished up my Xmas eve with one bowl of ramen on the way back home...quiet Xmas eve..

This year's last concert I enjoyed in the audience

今日はコーラスのメンバー達と恒例のPiano Duo Concertに。コーラスを指導されている宮地先生と同志の大山秀子さんによるピアノのデユオは迫力満点。中でも「カルメン」演奏会組曲の中のアラゴネーズには大喝采。アンダルシア地方の活発な舞曲は４手が鍵盤の上をすべり、躍動感溢れたもの。素晴らしい演奏でした。
We went to the annual piano duo concert by Ms.Miyaji and her colleague. She is our commander of a women's choir group. Their performance was great and so energetic that the audience was totally overwhelmed. I enjoyed the most the number 「 A la Gonaise(?)」 expressing the active dance of Andalusia、Carmen suite for concert, played by them in such a powerful and delicate way with their fingers dancing on all of the keys. Fantastic!

日光市民病院老健慰問コーラス Our choir group's annual visit to Nikko civic hospital

12月20日　（土）　December 20th

師走の雨模様の中、日光市民病院にわたすげコーラス隊が恒例のXmas慰問に。介護士さん４人で編成されたWith Four グループとの競演が雰囲気を明るく、若くしてくれました。
In December drizzling rain, we Watasuge women's choir members made an annual visit to Nikko civic hospital for Xmas consolatory party. We enjoyed singing together with 90 senior patients as seen in these pictures. They have their own vocal group of four young men working as caregivers there. They joined us to make the air more cheerful, friendly and much younger.

 そして夕方は千葉からやってきた長女の家族とクリスマスディナーコンサートへ。JR日光駅の真向いのホテルでのコンサートで福田倫子さんのフルートと長崎麻里香さんのピアノの競演。クリスマスにふさわしい曲が沢山演奏され、孫達が鈴をふるというハプニングをいただいて楽しい思い出が出来ました。テンポの速い熊蜂の飛行は逸品でした。
And in the evening our daughter's family came over from Chiba and we went to the hotel to join the Xmas dinner concert organized by Ms Noriko Fukuda, a young flutist accompanied by Ms Marika Nagasaki, a pianist. They performed quite a few Xmas numbers in a pleasant way. For "Jingle Bells" our grandchildren happened to be invited to cooperate their performance with the bells in hands in their own way. The number named"Flight of the bumblebee" composed by a Russian composer was played so quick in an impressive way. Wonderful!.

師走は師走 Busy month

12月１９日（金）

今日は朝から一日中外。２０分前（２２時半）に無事帰宅しました。EECCが３コマ。その一つは忘年会ランチ。早退で歯医者さんへ。一度帰宅して１０分で飛び出し、友人の車で一緒に宇都宮へ。プロムナードコンサートの第３回目の今日は中村紘子さんの名演奏を堪能。ピアニストだって冒険をするという今回のテーマにふさわしく、以前と異なって、詳しい解説のお蔭で、曲それぞれのイメージが描けて今までにない鑑賞が出来ました。それにしてもショパンの曲をこれほどダイナミックに、パワーフルに聴いたのは初めてかもしれない。ムソルグスキーの組曲「展覧会の絵」もトークのおかげで情景が想像され、大変楽しめました。彼女の力強い演奏は繊細さを越えてこれほどまで迫力があったことに、圧倒されてしまいました。人間業とは思えないというのが正直な感想。
Having a busy schedule today I was out all day long from morning till night. It was 10:30 at night when I came back home. On top of three EECC classesincluding a year-end party organized by PM class, I had an appointment to see a dentist. Then I rushed back home to change my clothes and drove to Utsunomiya with my friend for a concert by a prominent pianist, Mme Hiroko Nakamura. Thanks to her kind and informative comments in details, we got much better understandings about those composers like Chopin, Beethoven and Mussorgsky. Her performance was so dynamic and powerful that her elegant touches on the keys were bit diminished. I was very impressed with Mussorgsky's suite "Pictures from an Exhibition".

EECC忘年会 EECC Year-end party

12月１２ 日（金）

寒いこのシーズンに温かい忘年会というより、EECC親睦会が今年もスタート。今回はAMクラスとLunch time クラスとが合同でその幕を開けました。１２１号線バイパス豊岡中のはすかいにオープンしたNICOCHA庵。女性シェフが一人できりもりしているようで、お客様であるEECCのメンバーが率先してウエイトレス役を買って出るという一寸様子の違ったレストラン。お店の佇まいは新しくて清潔感があり、食事もオプションが３つも用意されていて美味しくいただきました。二次会は今回の幹事役を務めて下さった幸子さんのご自宅訪問。広い敷地に大きなお家の他に、豪華なカラオケ設備付の素敵なゲストハウスあり。私はPMクラスがあったので、すぐ失礼してしまいましたが、クラスのイベントをここでいつか出来たらなーという願望を抱きました。素敵なお花をいただきました。EECCがスタートして５年を経過した記念に「会話ノート」を作りました。
An annual EECC year-end party season has started. Today AM class organized one together with Lunch time class at a newly opened restaurant named Nicocha-An located along the No.121 by-pass across Toyooka Junior High school. It seems that the lady chef has no stuff yet and some members of EECC took action to help her as waiters. It's wonderful to see them supporting her with such kind gesture. The restaurant newly renovated looks clean and the food was very good. After the special lunch, Sachiko-san, in charge of the luncheon this time, kindly invited us to her house for tea. She has a huge premise with a big house and a gorgeous guest house too. I was obliged to be excused for my next schedule. I hope we can organize some event for EECC next time at her place. Thank you very much for such a beautiful flower pot as a year-end present.　I made a small conversation book to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the opening of EECC.

This is to inform you that Nikko Seifuujuku (established in 2007 to work for local activation) determined to hold a big event early next year on February 22th. It's a lecture to be conducted by Mrs, Yasuko Ikenobo at Kyakuden of Nikko Toshogu shrine in honor of the great festival to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Nikko Toshogu shrine. 日光ユネスコ活動 One of the activities of Nikko UNESCO

12月7日（日）

10月27日の第一回目に続いて、第二回目の平成大修理体験プログラムに日光ユネスコ（協）の一員として参加。といっても日光文化遺産保存会の指導で、この体験ツアーに参加した人達のお手伝いということで参加。テーブルセットしたり、墨汁、緑、青、赤の顔料を運んだり、お皿を洗ったりという仕事。若い人達がこういう体験に興味があるのは喜ばしいことです。
Following the first experience study of a big renovation task for the architecture in Nikko world heritage site on October 27th, I, as a member of Nikko UNESCO Association, joined the second one again today to help a group of 41 participants from urban area. This program is conducted by Nikko cultural heritage preservation authority. What we did was to prepare the tables, to bring back and forth some colors like green, blue and scarlet which are very expensive pigments, and to wash out the small plates used for pigments. It was nice to see quite a few young people interested in this kind of experience.

日光清風塾　第37回講話会　「住まいと生活」11月30日（日）要旨

今回は建築士である平岡一二理事が担当。

日本古来の建築の特異性の説明から始まり、西欧建築と日本建築の耐用年数の大きな違いがどこから来るのか、建築資材の問題、住宅メーカーまかせになっていないか。住居はランニングコストも考慮に、住む人が自分で機能性、経済性をもっと考えるべきである。快適な住居は健康にも結びつく。快い住環境と健康管理を重視した建築が理想の建築と言えるという結論でした。

ツーバイ工法を日本で先駆けて導入した話。英国で開発され、開拓時代に米国で多く採用。シンプルで強度の試算が簡単であり、新世界開拓に向いていた。アメリカのシアトルでは100年以上経っている家が沢山ある。構造が簡単でリニューするのが簡単。時代の環境に順応させてリニュー出来る。日本の従来型建築は解体するので大変なコスト高になる。阪神大震災の時、この工法で建てられた家屋は一軒も倒壊しなかった。耐震強度が高く、台風にも強い。住宅建設コストは決して高くない。シンプルなデザインでリニューするのが簡単。従来建築のものは30年もすれば一からの立て替えになるが、ツーバイでは部分的に改造出来る。そうすることにより長く住めるし財産になっていく。

結露対策、断熱材の理解、建築資材として木材が優れていること、室内の温度管理、木製及び塩ビのペアガラスサッシの使用など、具体的で専門的な話となり、もっと早く知りたかったというコメントもありました。

11月29日のイベント Two Events in Utsunomiya on Nov.29

午前中はとちぎ福祉プラザでWFWP主催の講演会に友人の一恵さんを誘って参加。2部構成で、1部は8月に行われたThomas Ward 博士の講演「日本と米国における教育の挫折」のフォロー、2部は「日本における教育の問題とWFWPビジョン」。今回は特に2部の話に共感。バランスの取れた教育の指摘は切実。底辺に心情の涵養を置き、中間に規範教育、上に専門教育という正常な三角形の形成が理想というのが結論。
夕方から宇都宮市文化会館大ホールでの恒例の今年で34回目になるという宇都宮第九合唱団の「第九」を初めて鑑賞。団員の1人で友人の美伊子さんの計らいで、この機会を得ることが出来ました。合唱隊の一糸乱れぬ立ち位置での迫力ある大合唱に感動！ソプラノ（市原愛）、メゾ（小泉詠子）、テノール（鈴木准）、バリトン（与那城敬）の4人のソリストは勿論のこと、日本フィルもさすがの演奏。すべて金聖響さんの指揮に集中してのパフォーマンスでブラボーというしかない傑作でした。女性コーラス団を指導されているYokoさんの底力に改めて感動。コンサートの前には第九お茶席が用意されていて、なにか心が引き締まる思いで会場に入りました。今日は朝から一恵さんとご一緒に貴重な一日を送ることが出来ました。美伊子さんありがとうございました。素晴らしいい演奏でした！そして容子さんの指導力と、ご（兄）弟によるいぶし銀のように品格のある、宇宙をかんじさせるほど雄大で神聖なイメージを感じさせてくれる陶芸の作品に感動しました。

3日続いた雨の後、今日は幸いに好天気に恵まれて、交流会には最高のお天気日和となりました。今回は日光ユネスコ側がお迎えする番で、栗原副会長さんの手作りの栞が配布され、きめ細かい日光ならではのプログラムを用意しての交流会。日光に住み始めてもう9年になるものの、まだまだ見聞が足りない自分を反省。この交流会のおかげで一緒に勉強させていただきました。高田事務局長宅にある市指定天然記念物となっているシダレザクラの見物→日光発祥の地である日光創建の人、勝道上人の足跡をたどり→日光再建の人、天海大僧正のお墓とその周辺→勝道上人が兎島（湯ノ湖）に建てたお堂（現在釈迦堂の入り口に移築）と徳川譜代家臣のお墓→大正天皇の御在所、田母沢御用邸を見学。重い写真パネルや資料をかかえながらの副会長さんの丁寧な説明は印象的でした。全部見終ってから翠園で遅い昼食会となりましたが、お互いに会話が弾み、有意義な交流会となりました。

　November 27 (Thurs)　An annual friendship exchange welcoming Soka UNESCO members

Thanks to such a wonderful autumn day after rather heavy rain for three days, we enjoyed having an exchange friendship meeting between Nikko UNESCO and Soka UNESCO. It was our side to prepare a program this time. Mr.Kurihara, vice chairman of our association kindly made a handbook designed for today’s program which has detailed explanation of the historical places to visit with many photos and sketches in. It has been 9 years since we settled down in Nikko, but there are still many places I haven’t visited yet. Today I really appreciated today’s opportunity to be able to visit some important historic spots to follow what did the great priests, shoudou, the founder of Nikko in 766 and Tenkai, its reconstructor during the Tokugawa Shogunate. Then Tamozawa imperial villa, very elegant and sophisticated place was our last visit, which I have been so many times before. Finally we ended up our late luncheon at Suien which turned to be very successful having enjoyable conversation over the delicious Chinese food.

　　

忙しくもあり有意義な連休

11月22日～24日　

このウイークエンドは長女の家族のご来日光で賑やかで一人では出来ないことが一杯できました。自然の中で存分に体を使い、おそば三昧の休日でした。南京にいる主人ともスカイプを通して孫達は爺の顔を見ながら話が出来、彼等には新しい経験となりました。

○「日光そば祭り」

満杯の円山公園にかろうじて車を止めて一人なら１５分で行ける距離を７歳と２歳の孫を連れての歩きは容易ではない。１時間半はかかりました。でも車道ではなく、だいや川沿いの土手道を男体山を前方に見ながら歩いたので、超健康的。会場ではそばは後回しにして子供の好きな（大人も）コロッケとカツサンドをゲットー。主目的のステージ会場が良く見える場所を確保してコーラスの先生の出番を待ちました。予定通り、午後２時半。下司先生と直子先生の美しく、よく通る声には孫達も目を丸めて聴きいりました。それより、こんな田舎で初めて聴くといった感じの人達が立ち止まって感動していたのが印象的。仮設テントがオペラハウスでないのが残念至極。

○「龍王峡で最後の紅葉狩」

ここでも子供達と競って健脚ぶりを発揮。７歳の星太君は100名山中、50座を制覇済み。さすがに彼の足の運び方、走り方、ペースの速さは驚くほどで我々を圧倒。紅葉狩りというより、下の河原に下りて岩場を楽しんだり、2歳の明里姫は水に石やら砂を投げて大騒ぎ。妹も元気さでは負けてはいない。でも彼女を片腕に抱っこして石の階段（と言ってもロッククライミング状態の足場）を上がり降りする父親も凄い。彼は日本の山を300以上は登っている由。母親（娘）もフォローするのに慣れて来ていて何とも逞しい一家。

○「孫達は、庭で三輪車を動かしたり、思い切り走り回ったり、ゴルフの真似事をしたり、木の枝等を使ってビルの建設をしたりで、自然の中で大はしゃぎ」

○「今市の焼きそばまつり」

彼等のおかげで、私自身も初めて試食ラーリーに参加。600円で1カップ貰って10食分試食できるというもの。焼きそばやは関東近辺から集まっていて30軒弱。その中の数件、5食分くらいに挑戦。意外に食べられないもの。シールは全員No.24に。もっと美味しいのがあったかも知れないが限界でした。

恒例の日光そばまつりのタイミングで長女の家族がやってきました。静かな我が家に外の小鳥たちそちのけで大きな囀りが充満。幸い今日は好天気に恵まれて庭で存分に遊び、昼過ぎにカンマーコールの指導の先生たちがそばまつりのステージに立たれるということで一家をひきつれて行って来ました。子供達に引き回されながら一時間以上かけてダイヤ川沿いの土手を歩いて会場に到着。大勢の人出で大賑わい。そばは後回しにして、とりあえず子供中心にカツサンドとコロッケを買って会場が見えるテーブルを確保。カツサンドもコロッケも美味しくて子供達は大喜び。そして先生たちの今まで聴いたことの無いような声量のある美しい歌声にびっくり。子供達だけではなく、周りの大人たちも釘付け状態で聴いているのが何とも誇らしく思いました。下司先生、直子先生、ありがとうございました。
My daughter's family came over to see me to join the annual Soba(buck wheat noodle) Festival. Our peaceful place has turned to be filled with our over-whelming chatting which push away wild birds'twitters outside. It was a so beautiful day that we played out in the yard for a while and we walked to the park where the festival has been taken place. We took the causeway along Daiya River taking more than one hour loitering on the way because of our grandchildren. So many people were there. We bought some sandwiches and croquettes for the kids and sat at a table available to see the stage. The food was very good and we were very happy, then our music instructors, Mr.Shimoji and Ms.Naoko were on stage. They sang some beautiful songs with such high quality of voice that not only our kids but also the people around were standing still to watch and listen to them to be amazed, which I was very much proud of. Thank you very much, Mr.Shimoji and Ms.Naoko.

お宅訪問 House visit

今日はご縁があって茨城インテリアコーディネーター協会のみなさんと東京在住のスウェーデン人ご夫妻のお宅を訪問してきました。北欧の方が東京でどのようなお住まいに住んで、どのようなライフスタイルでおられるかを視察、勉強したいというのがその目的。スタンダードな物差しにこだわらず、自由なセンスで、閉鎖的生活ではなく、オープンで常に自然と繋がったアウトドア重視のライフスタイルにみんな感動。特に、ご夫人が日本で始めたという焼き物、版画の作品が飾られ、生活に溶け込んでいるのが印象的。半蔵門から近い、皇居のお堀が眼下にある風景がリビング一杯の一枚窓を通して眺められるのにはみんな感嘆。自然を愛でながら生活できる空間がそこには広がり、圧巻でした。ご夫妻の自然体でのあたたかいおもてなしにも感動。実りある見学となりました。
Today I had a good opportunity to accompany a group of interior cordinators association in Ibaragi who visited a private mansi...on of Swedish family living in Tokyo. The purpose of this visit was to study about the interior coodination of their place and their life style away from their home country. They respect their free taste in their life. They love open-minded and outdoor oriented life always having the nature nearby. The living room has just one huge window through which they have a magnificent view of the imperial park underneath their building and the view of skyscrapers far beyond the trench whose color change depending on the time of a day. The nature is always there in their life. The wife started her work of pottery and engraving in Tokyo and her works are decorated in the rooms to join their creative interior art. We were very much impressed with their warm hospitality, which we appreciated a lot. It was a very fruitful visit.

旧友に４５年振りに再会 Meeting with my old friends after 45 years blank

１１月１６日（日）

今日は何と４５年振りで昔の友達に再会。誰かの文句じゃないけど、あれから５０年という感じ。結婚前にアメリカはマサチューセッツ州のアマーストの大学で出会ったカップルです。日光に来ておられて夕方京都に帰るとの突然の電話に驚くやら、なつかしいやら、何とか時間を作って会って来ました。１時間半の短かったこと。駅前のホテルでコーヒーを前につもる話に我を忘れたひと時。お互いに重ねた星霜に感慨深いものがありました。
An unexpected thing happened to me today. I met my old friends(a couple) for the first time since 45 years ago. I met them on the campus in Amherst in Mass. when I was still a student there. They gave me a sudden call yesterday asking if I had a time to meet them before they go back to Kyoto this evening.So surprised and moved with a kind of home-sick feeling, I rushed to JR Nikko station. We spent over one hour in the hotel in front of the station chatting over our life in the past through so many years. We got old each other. That's for sure. But we still have another life to challenge and respect as far as we are in good shape.

孫の誕生 6th grandchild born

11月15日（土）

秋晴れの良き日に陽成君がこの世に登場して３日目に初対面してきました。息子の第二子でジュニアの誕生に爺も遥か南京のキャンパスで１人万歳する写真も届きました。半月早い出産で2500gより少し少な目でしたが健康に生まれ、美しい赤ちゃんを抱っこした時の感激は最高でした。２歳半になったお姉ちゃんとこれから仲良く大きく元気に育って欲しいと祈っています。陽成君は爺と干支が同じで６回り後輩、陽成君の父親は私と干支が同じで３回り後輩。勝手に何か良き縁を感じて１人で喜んでいる婆です。

November 15th(Sat)I visited the newly born baby, 3 days old, for the first time under such a beautiful day in autumn. A photo of my husband with a gesture of congratulating the birth of our 6th grandchild,"Banzai", has just arrived in our son's i phone. The baby, already given his first name, Yosei, was born half a month earlier than the due date, with his weight, a bit below 2500g, but he is healthy and so beautiful. I was so happy to see him in my arms full of pleasure and appreciation wishing he and his sister, 2 and a half years old, may grow healthy and get on well with each other. One more my personal pleasure I found is that the baby's zodiac year, a horse, happened to be the same with his grandpa's and our son's, snake, the same with mine.
