恒例の「パークアベニューで昼食を」に参加 Joined the annual Luncheon meeting named "..at Park Avenue"

今日は恒例の「パークアベニューで昼食会」に参加してきました。夏休暇中で一時帰国中のＯ大使夫人を囲んでのＮＹ時代の仲間のお集まりで場所は毎年同じ白金台の白金亭。一部改装されていつものお部屋の壁に鏡が入り、広く感じられました。お食事は油でぎらぎらした中華からはほど遠く、上品で薄味の逸品揃い。オードブルのワイングラスに閉じ込めた季節の景色から始まり、
フォアグラ入りの小籠包、パパイヤとクレソンの蒸しスープ、完熟トマトのファルシー上湯スープ仕立て、そしてメインの海老入りワンタン麵は最高でした。デザートは周中(シェフのお名前）特製マンゴープリン。お味も量もとても上品で、食後の満腹感もいい具合。テーブルでのおしゃべりからの満腹感は相当でした。年々話題は介護と終活の方向へ。深刻にならないで笑いながらお話しできて、何となく考えさせられ、エネルギーをいただけるのがこうした集まりの良さかも知れません。

I went to Tokyo to join our annual luncheon meeting named "Luncheon at Park Avenue"according to Mrs.O's schedule by taking her summer holidays back in Japan from Holland. Members are all staff's spouses who used to work at the Japanese delegation for the UN in NY at the time of Ambassador O. We were there from September 1993 to March 1996.  The food was so well elaborated and sophisticated. We enjoyed talking over the table with happy feeling even a serious theme such as care for parents or the work for putting the things around us in order before we get seriously sick to die came across as our commun problem. This kind of friendly gathering makes us share those big themes and we get encouraged by thinking together.
