一年に一度の昼食会に東京まで出かけてきました。今回はMOFA時代の同期夫人の集まり。それぞれ相変わらず、私用とは言え、国外に出かけたり、いろいろな活動で忙しくしている様子が伺えて自分自身を鼓舞する良い機会。というより、遠隔地（？）にいて、たまには東京のセレブな空気を吸うことも必要だと感じて都合付けて出かけるようにしています。今回は何と昼食会の場所が９年前に夫が退官した時、子供たちがご苦労さん会のディナーをやってくれた場所と同じで感慨にふけってしまいました。食事は前回はイタリアン、今回は和食。あの時は夜だったので東京タワーが目の前で輝いていました。今回は少し霞んではいましたが、ダイナミックなスカイツリーが遠くに聳え立っていたのが印象的でした。

I went to Tokyo to join an annual luncheon for the wives of  the colleagues in the same year. They have still been active in their private lives being involved in both domestic and international bodies, which encourages me a lot. Furthermore, some sort of desire to absorb the air of urban life pushes me to join this kind of gathering. The place we had luncheon this time happened to be just the same place where our children organized a special dinner to congratulate their father's retirement back in 2004. It was on November 3rd. They showed us their appreciation for what we have done for the sake of not only our mother country but also our family for almost 40 years. At that time we enjoyed Italian cuisine while this time Japanese. At that time we enjoyed an illuminated Tokyo Tower at night just out there, while this time we had a dynamic view of Skytree far beyond skyscrapers.
