Yesterday we welcomed three Chinese people out of which one gentleman stepped in Japan for the first time and he came to our place escorted by the other two who have been back and forth between two countries. This gentleman was generous and friendly enough, in spite of his first visit, to do his superbe calligraphy demonstration in front of us. The paper with his writings is too long to be hung down on a wall in my house, only available on a wall covering from the first floor straight up to the second in the entrance. "A new friend coming from far away now meets a new people to become good friends" is a rough meaning of what he wrote. He seems to take his calligraphy tools with him wherever he goes. An amazing man!
And today came to see us two ladies voluntarily working for gender equality. They are from a big group named "Tsubasa no Kai, of which the literally meaning is Wings Association. This association has been active to grade up the women's situation in the society, so to speak, in order to enlighten the women to participate in the society with recognition of gender equality. They are very conscious about this theme and they have been studying and visiting highly advanced countries in this field such as North European counties, Germany, France, etc.. Then this year, they are planning to visit New Zeeland and they came to see my husband to get some ideas or comments from him. They are interested in what's happening in the society and they have their own opinions. We really enjoyed talking for more than two hours.
