今朝の新聞で今回の豪雨による日光での被害が想像以上に大きく、社協がボランティアを募っているという記事を読み、大急ぎで夫と社協事務所に行ってきました。即、午前と午後、二か所に流れ出した土砂運びと泥の掻きだし掃除を計6人のグループでやることが出来ました。場所は川室の民家と鬼怒川の猿山の麓の民家。現地は勿論、途中で沢山の被害箇所を目にして、少ないと言われてきた日光も今回の豪雨の威力には相当被害を蒙っていることを知りました。被害を受けられた方々のご心痛に思いを馳せ、元気を取り戻していただきたく一緒に作業しながら祈りました。一緒にやった仲間の一人は下野市から来た人で、阪神大震災以来、被災地を回ってボランティア活動を続けているという。あちらこちらのボランティア活動の内容を知り、こういう活動のあるべき姿なども説かれて大変勉強になりました。
This morning's newspaper brought us to the volunteer office of the local community to apply for works to help and rescue the sites damaged by that outrageously heavy rain 5 days ago. My husband and I were among 6 people in group and we visited two citizen's houses, one located in Kawamuro in Imaichi area and the other one in Kinugawa located just below the rope way center station. We found that Nikko area which used to be safe even under that kind of strong rain, has been enormously attacked and so many damaged area, especially caused by land slides and flood. We worked hard together to clear the muddy yard and floor inside sharing their sad feeling one hand and wishing their quick recovery on the other hand. I'm planning to join this activity several times more.
