組内で女子会 Annual dinner for the wives in a small local community

恒例の組内の女性夕食会が今年はかの名高い明治の館で行われた。当時の重光葵外相が疎開していた館で彼はここからミズーリー戦艦に降伏調印に赴いた由。歴史ある場所で近場の奥さん達が一年分のご苦労会をやるのが趣旨で、１５年前に旦那達が思いついてくれたという。どうりでこの組の女性群はみんな話が好きで生き生きしている。又、１年後のために頑張る生気が湧いてくるというもの。オードブルの中のキャビアを上に載せたエビのヨーグルトムースは流石の美味。洋風茶碗蒸しもいい。更に一見湯葉巻きに見える大根の薄切りで野菜を巻いたサラダでお口直しをした後のメインの鱸のムニエルに各種野菜の入ったトマトソースかけは最高であった。そして各種スイートの盛り合わせのデザートも満腹のお腹にすいすいと入っていく。コーヒーも美味しい。終わってみると、おしゃべりしながら、これだけのボリュームを２時間で完食したことになる。ご近所の親睦の為に、赤ワインも入って一寸贅沢な一時を得たことに感謝。旦那達はどういう夕食にありついたのだろう。
　An anual dinner gathering for the wives in a small local neigborhood was held at the beautiful restaurant named "Meiji no Yakata" which is famous for the historical place. It used to be a temporary place where Mr. Shegemitsu, the foreign minister at the time of the second world war, was evacuated. He went to the Missouri Warship from this place to sign the treaty. This gathering was initiated by their husbands 15 years ago in order to acknowledge their wives' services and to encourage them for further services. This is really unlike Japamese spirit. Anyway thanks to the men's kindness, the wives are all cheerful and active.
 As for the food, everything was marvelous and delicious. We all enjoyed talking and eating with appreciative feeling. I wonder what kind of supper their husbands had this evening?
