ソチオリンピックのスタート Sochi Olympic Game has just started.

 ２月７日（金）５時間の時差があってソチオリンピックの開会式の様子が日本時間では真夜中にテレビ生中継が放映された。テレビに釘付けになって見終わったのが午前４時。翌日は夫も私も夫々別の用事で宇都宮に行くことになっていたので朝８時に目覚ましを設定して就寝。朝起きて外を見てびっくり。予報通りながら、かなり雪が積もり、延々と降り続けている。交通も麻痺し始めている。この雪の中車で出かけるのは危険とみて宇都宮行きは断念。

　The opening　ceremony of Sochi Olympic was televised from 1o'clock until 4 in the morning, February 8. Japan time is 5 hours ahead. We were just in front of our TV without noticing the weather out here. We had a few hours sleep and I was surprised to find a big different scenery all covered with pure snow out when I got up around 7:30. We had to cancel our schedule to go to Utsunomiya today so as not to be in trouble with bad traffic condition.  
　
　雪景色は本当に美しい。雪の景色を見ていると何もかも真っ白な雪に覆われて世界は平等・公平という印象を持つ。この風景が大好きである。ソチは快晴で気温も４度と報告されていた。テレビの映像を観ると会場は美しい冬山の景色が広がっている。ここ我が家の回りの風景も美しい。窓から冬鳥の日光キビタキが紅葉の木に停まっていた。まるっこくて、胸のあたりがオレンジ色で可愛い鳥である。

 The scenery covered with snow is so beautiful. Everything is covered with pure white color to be equal and fair. I like that impression. Sochi in Russia looks so beautiful under just clear blue sky with the temperature 4℃ which is milder than here. The surrounding of our house is also very beautiful. This morning found a small and cute bird flying around this area stopping on a branch of a maple tree out of the window of our house.

　今日は一日静かに家に留まって、ソチの競技をテレビ観戦する日となってしまった。やはりスポーツを見ていると熱くなる。今日から２週間、毎日が楽しみである。
