高校生との国際交流学習会が今回はアイスホッケーで名門の日光明峰高校で行われた。日光ユネスコの活動の一つに世界遺産環境調査というのがあり、近年、これに高校生も加わって一緒に行っている。
そのモニタリング活動を経験した生徒によるプレゼンテーションがなされ、この活動を通して、生徒自身が日光の世界遺産をもっと知ろうと調べたことが発表された。生徒会の担当の先生がアイスホッケーの監督であり、国体に出場される現役選手であり、その端正でスポーツマンらしい容姿とテキパキとした言動から、生徒達にも何かすがすがしい誠実さと真面目さが伺えた。こういった活動を通して、地元の宝を知り、彼等にはそれを世界に発信できるエネルギーがあると感じとることが出来た。
An International Exchange Study meeting with high school students was held at Nikko Meiho High School this time. This school has an honorable reputation for its high quality of Ice Hockey Team. This school has sent some students to join one of Nikko UNESCO activities which is to monitor the air pollution surrounding Nikko World Heritage area.

The meeting was chaired by students council of this school.
The students who participated in the last monitoring program made a good presentation of what they studied to know more about Nikko World Heritage based on the spots where they monitored the pollution. The young teacher in charge of Student Council is not only the coach of Ice Hockey Team of this school but also a player in the active list in Tochigi prefecture. His decent appearance as well as his clear way of talking must influence on his students who are also very sincere and cheerful. Their attitude to listen to our talks made a favorable impression. I felt their potentiality to addresse themselves toward the future world with this kind of activity involving in Nikko World Heritage oriented study.
