ご縁があって夫と知人の寮子さんと３人で古河市国際交流協会のウインターフェスティバルに行ってきました。まくらがの古河市合併１０周年、ウインターフェスティバルは９回目とのことでしたが、大勢の人が参加して大変な盛り上がりのある交流会でした。盛りだくさんのプログラムを準備した実行委員会の組織力には圧倒されました。今年の夏に一週間、姉妹都市であるオーストラリアのケアンズにホームステイした３人の中学生による英語での体験スピーチは立派であり、４人の在日外国人による日本語でのスピーチも面白く真実をついたもので素晴らしく、大変印象深いものでした。
We went to Koga-city, one and a half hours drive away to the south from Nikko to join an annual event, the 9th Winter Festival, organized by the International Friendship Association of Koga-city. Surprised to find so many people were there to enjoy the lots of programs involving all kinds of generations from babies to the senior. Its committee members looked very active and impressive.
The speeches by three junior high students who had home stay experiences during one week this summer in Canes in Australia were very well done while those made by four non Japanese living in Japan very interesting and impressive.
