今日は、先の大雪で大変な被害を受けられたT&Tのトマト栽培のハウスに出かけてきました。あの被害の為にトマトの苗の間引き作業が大幅に遅れてしまったため、急ピッチで人を集めてその作業をしているということで、私達も夫婦で参加してきました。初めて経験する作業でしたが、トマトが愛おしくなるほど、貴重な体験が出来ました。３，４センチの小さな苗がやがて８から１０キロほどのトマトを実らせるとのこと。生まれたての赤ちゃんトマトをケアする喜びと責任を感じました。植物の生命力に感動し、その生命力を生かす人間にも感動しました。

Today we visited a Tomoto cultivation house run by T&T which faced a big damage caused by the big snow in the middle of February this year. Because of this disaster, they had to do repair works for the facilities and thin-out work for tomatoes has been delayed. Now lots of volunteer workers have been needed and we also decided to join this thin-out work.
It was completely new type of work for me and I ended up with a feeling of love toward tomato seedlings. They are now so small with 3,4cm long and after this thin-out process, they will grow strong enough to produce 8 to 10 kirograms of tomatoes. They looked like newly born babiesas and so precious they are. I found some glatitude in my mind and I was moved to find human's ability to vitalize such small plants for the sake of humans themselves.
