日光連山を背に

今日は東京ドームでの松井と長嶋の国民栄誉賞表彰式の生中継を見る予定であったが、余りの天気の良さに板橋にある城山に登ってきました。小さな443.3M程の山だが、かねてから登ってみたいと思っていた夫の願望をかなえる丁度良いチャンスとなりました。数日後に中国へ出かけていく為、その前に一度という思いがあったよう。かなり厳しい登り道は１時間で。下山はその半分。檜が真っ直ぐそそり立つ城山は何故か品格がある。ハイキングというのがふさわしい行程。最高の天気に恵まれて、遠くに見える新緑が大変爽やかに目に映りました。日光市を眼下にし、その向こうには日光連山が聳える。男体山の後ろに雪を頂いた白根山も見える。白根山は男体山より100M弱高いことがわかりました。（男体山2486, 白根山2577M）ここは城塞があったところで山が館跡であり、徳川時代のもの。歴史的に由緒があり、遠足のコースでもあるようだ。我が家から車で40分のところにある。

Instead of watching the special TV programme covering the commendation ceremony of National Honor to be given to two baseball players, Mr.Matsui and Mr.Nagashima, we were tempted to go out to climb Mt.Shiroyama under such a beautiful weather. This small mountain 443.3M high has been in my husband'mind for longtime and he wanted to fulfill his desire to climb it just before his departure for China in a few days. One hour was enough to go up to the top. Most of the trees are Hinoki cypresses growing straight up well managed and they are giving a dignity to the air around. The view from the top was fabulous. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the chaine of Nikko mountains far beyond Nikko city. Behind Mt.Nantai was seen Mt.Shirane of which the top was still covered with snow. This Shiroyama used to be a fortress in connection with Tokugawa Period. It has a historical meaning. It can be one of school excursions for school children. Its location is a 40 minute drive from our house.
