電話取材 Interview over the telephone

あるテレビ局から急な電話による取材が夫のところに舞い込んだ。オランダのアレクサンダー新国王の即位式に皇太子ご夫妻が出席されたことから、ヨーロッパ王室の民間出身の皇太子妃をクローズアップした番組が企画されたのである。2001年8月25日に挙行されたノルウェーのホーコン皇太子のご成婚の折は丁度我々がノルウェーに在職していた時だったので、皇太子妃となられたメッテ・マリート嬢の取材が飛び込んだのである。40分に及ぶ電話インタビューから本番ではほんの1,2分が報道された。番組を製作する側のご苦労を知る一方で、拙著の中に「ノルウェーでの心に残る出来事」として五つ挙げた中に「ホーコン皇太子のご成婚」を記述しているが今回それを改めて読み直して当時の印象に思いを馳せることが出来ました。 Refer to http://kawaimasao.phpapps.jp/

An interview over the telephone suddenly came to my husband very late at night yesterday. It was for an annex to the early morning TV programme on TBS for the occasion of the official visit to Holland by His Imperial  Highness the Crown Prince and Her Imperial Highness the Crown Princess Masako. It was to report about the Crown Princesses in European Royal families. We were posted in Norway at the time when His Highness the Crown Prince Hakon's wedding was executed. They wanted to get more accurate information about Her Highness the Crown Princess, Mette Maritte, to be. The interview over the telephone was done for 40 minutes, but it's real take turned to be only for a few minutes on TV.  I understand how much effort the staff are required to prepare for one programme, and also I got a time to refer to what I wrote in my book about their wedding as one of five unforgettable memories I experienced during our duty in Norway.
